About Robin

In 2000,  in a part-time capacity, I opened the doors to The Write Source, LLC (TWS) freelance writing, editing, and memoir instruction business while continuing my full-time position at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). I retired from IUPUI in 2015 to devote full time to life writing instruction, editing, coaching, and publishing at The Write Source, LLC.

My Training . . .

I am a Personal Historian, Certified Life Writing Instructor, and American Writers and Artists Inc. (AWAI) trained copywriter. As a Life Writing Instructor, I instruct my students how to write their stories in their words. Classes are in small group workshop fashion and I teach two different formats — Basic Memoir and Ethical Will (also known as Legacy Letter).

As a trained AWAI professional copywriter, I enjoy working with small businesses helping them tell their business stories in their words to assist their marketing efforts. As a lifelong learner, I accept every new project with a sense of professional curiosity.

Relevant Experience . . .

From 2001 until 2013 I taught life writing classes, and edited life stories, fiction and creative non-fiction manuscripts for clients.

In 2015, I added Rain Drop Press, the publishing affiliate at TWS where I published my first anthology, My Brush with Death, which contains 26 stories about ordinary people accomplishing extraordinary feats when faced with death. It is the first in a planned series named Life is a Journey–not a destination.  Today, Rain Drop Press continues to operate as a small press publishing life stories for TWS clients.

As a magazine, newsletter, and newspaper writer, I have experience in writing stories that are both factual and interesting to read. I am currently a regional freelance feature writer for Senior Life Newspapers where my specialty is personal profile feature articles. I am also published in PenIt!, Family, Boomers, New You, and The Business Exchange magazines. My personal memoir work is published in the life writing textbook, Turning Memories into Memoirs, Lifewriting Digest, and an anthology.
